Christmas Day 2013

Sister Howard spent an hour skyping with her family today. It was rocky at first and we had to change the location. We were set up to Skype in a group and it worked for everyone except for Sister Howard so after a delay all got on one computer and she looks so happy and good. She loves her mission and has a wonderful ward family. The area is on fire and she has already warn out the heels on her boots. She has tried so many different foods in which she refused to eat at home. She has an awesome companion from Alabama, Sister Beesley. She has learned alot about herself. It's kind of nice when an outsider sez the same thing that we have been trying to tell her all along. Of course she can not get on facebook but keep the comments coming. She doesn't have alot of time to email so "Snailmail" is the best option for her. Write her at

Week 4 Merry Christmas

Wow, I can't believe that I have been out this long in the field. Week 4!!! Missionary life is the best I have to say, I am so excited to of met everyone here and see everyone that I teach grow and grow. I have been doing great! Got stuck in a hail storm one night, lets just say my raincoat, skirt, shoes everything was dripping wet and soaked. haha. But hey thats the beautiful part of missionary work. You work even when the weather is terrible. We are due for some serious rain storms over this christmas holiday. Im just glad we dont have to prostelyte much during the holiday! I have had some amazing experiences this week, but then again no one wants to talk to us because it is the Christmas Season. Arg. i don't understand- this is the time that we NEED the gospel most. but its okay. i hope everyone has a very merry Christmas and remember the true meaning of Christmas!!!

Chesterfield Missionaries

Week 3 Dec 16th

Wow,
Can you believe it? I'm on my third week here in Chesterfield, England! What a fantastic week it has been! Full of miracles and baptisms!! yes I said baptisms!! Two of my investigators were baptized December 14th, 2013 and Confirmed December 15, 2013!!! the baptism was amazing. one of the elders-Elder Orr and myself sang a musical number Acapella and i have to say I'm suprised that my voice didn't crack! haha. we sang i know that my redeemer lives. the spirit was so powerful and great. it was amazing to see two children of god enter the waters of baptism in just my second week in the field. Chesterfield is on Fyre like i have been saying and is full of miracles. we had just 5 miracles Friday! i have them written down and will never forget them. i have been able to notice more and more when i have a prompting from the holy ghost to say something in lessons or just when finding. i am so proud and happy to be here. i have seen the miracles of when my investigators are changing me while im helping them change theirself. we as missionaries are NOT teachers! WE ARE GUIDES!! thats something that i've learned a great deal of here in the last week. i am so thankful for everyone and the support you give me.
Its so weird because I don't know what to say. haha. I don't have enough time. lol.
Miracles:)
1. we were walking and i said hiya(that's what they say here in chesterfield) and just continued to walk he then turned back and said hey are you two elders? hahah no were not we are sisters, we replied. we then found out that he was being taught by the elders but haven't seen him in 5 weeks. we set up a time to meet with him this week:)
2. 5 minutes later after miracle one we got a call from two Slovakian girls that we met on the bus a week before asking when we weren't busy so we could come see them!!
3. had a lesson with this guy we met on the street a week before. i prayed that he would come with questions because he is really big in Buddhism(well that's the closest religion he will affiliate himself with) and he came with questions and we were able to answer them with the spirit. we were able to see his head turning and he supported all of our answers so it was super nice, but we didn't feel impressed to invite him to be baptized but that's okay.
4. we then had a less active to tract down that our bishop gave, we went to the house to find out she didn't live there anymore, but the guy who lives there now is interested in learning more!!!! ahhhh!!!
5. we then didn't know what to do so we said a prayer on the side of the road and didn't feel impressed to knock or to street contact but this one house stood out to Sister Beesley and we went. a lady opened the door and I said "hi, how are you, I'm Sister Howard." she said, "come in, come in" what the heck!! I mean what the awesome!! haha. no one has ever let us in when we just knock we were at her house for a good 30 minutes. she told us her life story and then invited us back!! and shes Catholic!!!
so those are my miracles that all happened on Friday, December 13,2013 -FRIDAY THE 13TH!! haha. i just realized that. lol

well I hope everyone has a very very Merry Christmas and remember what its all about!!

With love,
Sister Howard

Week 2 Dec 9th

Wow,
What can I say about my second week here in Chesterfield, England? This place is on FYRE with missionary work. and yes i meant to spell it that way. haha. the people and members here are amazing. the members are probably the most dedicated members i have ever seen in my life. Sorry home ward! but its so true!! We have had many investigators and I have two baptisms this saturday, December 14th. I can't believe that I've only been out 2 weeks and already have my first baptism. I hate only having 30 minutes to write home but if you would like to know more send me your address because letters are somewhat easier to write. lol. anywho, I have been adjusting to missionary life quite well. I have had a few times where Ive gotten stressed but I was able to overcome it with the strength and help from my companion and the Lord. I have seen many miracles here these last two weeks. I have seen one of my investigators going from not believing there is a God at all to her praying everynight and giving up tea and coffee without us even teaching her the Word of Wisdom. The Lord is truely preparing her for baptism.
The weather is quite cold and I dont think I have ever worn so many scarfs or tights in my LIFE!! I HATE TIGHTS! but i LOVE TIGHTS. haha. The food is good. Ive only had one dish that i didn't quite like and that was broccoli! yuk. haha
i have met many nice people and i get a chance to talk to everyone i come in contact with. i was able to serve a man and help him rake a path of leaves. we have had one real storm here and it was a gail storm aka wind storm!
I love it here and can't wait to here from you all some more.

1st Week Dec2nd

My first week has been amazing. we already have two investigators scheduled for baptism. can you believe it? I would be out exactly a month when they are baptized. I'm doing really well in the field my companion says. she tells me every time we role play that I was pre-trained. haha. i haven't been discouraged yet but i do miss home. I'm not shy talking to people at all. i have stopped many people on the street and it was pretty weird at first but not so much anymore. I love it. I love missionary work. I love being here. I can't express how it feels to have the spirit with you always and to know that I am always blessed.

First week in MTC down!!

Dear Family and Friends,
I can't express how much I LOVE being a sister missionary and being here at the MTC in England. Flight over from newport news was rough. i flew all the way to manchester by myself. but when i landed i found myself with 3 other missionaries. 2 from canda, sister bevans and sister neilson! and one from yuganda, elder opiyo. oh yeah and elder sim the guy who does what mormons say on youtube he was there too but i didn't meet him until we got to the MTC. he's a pretty cool guy. so all of you who like his videos. yupp i know him. hahaha
My days are hard and full of being in the classroom. i am in the Lehi District and its quite nice. there are Elder Ehigamusoe, Elder Swarzkopf, Sister Holland, Sister Neilson, Elder Opiyo, Elder Meissner, and Sister Cabrejas. Sister Cabrejas is my companion. she is from northern spain and her english is good but not the very best. here at the mtc we teach investigators and my first lesson went horribly. but it turned out  i was just beating my self up because i wanted to be the perfect missionary. and ive learned that even though I have been called of by God to be a missionary and that I (missionaries) are the only ones who can teach the gospel, im not a perfect missionary and i will never be.
i now know why everyone who goes to the mtc says the food is so fattening but so delicious. i feel like ive gained so muc weight. hah. but the food is so good here.
i have a lot of pictures already but i dont have a chord to send any of them:( ill buy one hopefully later and send them all out. the friends i have made here at the mtc are amazing. i have learned so much from them as well.
the weather here in england is quite cloudy and rainy. but thats okay considering ive been in the mtc practically every moment ive been awake.
im learning so much here. i have learned to rely on the spirit when i prepare for a lesson and when i teach that lesson. i also learned how to teach with the scriptures and only the scriptures. i love hearing from you guys and can't wait to tell you more. keep the emails coming. i wouldn't send any handwritten letters until i get into the field only because i leave next week from the mtc. can you believe it i've already been gone for a whole week.
i love you all and can't wait to here from you.
with love
Sister Howard
